James Thordsen

Head of Product Management
Gap Inc.
A flying car needs a flux capacitor and a steering wheel. James is a curious lover of technology who believes in its potential to make the world a better, richer, more fulfilling place. Leading Product Management for customer experience at Gap Inc. - he tries to build flying cars for retail.

Improving that customer experience - online & in-store, for Gap’s five dynamic brands - demands attention to steering wheels: metrics, performant architectures, streamlined checkouts. Helping envision the future of retail - anticipating / inspiring customers and channel-irrelevant retail… that’s flux capacitor territory.

Before Gap James worked at eBay in CRM, engineering and strategy roles - including a stint in Europe where he found time to visit 20 countries in 24 months. When not trying to see the world, James lives in the San Francisco East Bay with his fabulous wife and two amazing school-aged children.
